Today I saw Spring. It is certain that we can see it every year, however, we live such busy lives that it often happens that the great beauties of nature pass by unnoticed.
The Spring I saw today radiated like a refined and glittering spirit among the trees. This beautiful image caught my attention and in that moment I remembered those delicate figures depicted by Botticelli in his version of Spring. Just as the world of imagination gifts us with “miracles”, so did Spring come to me, leaving behind a message…
It prompted me to remember the closeness between dreams and death, to see how it has the power to overcome both because where it seems like there is nothing left, the miracle of Resurrection rises.
It reminded me of what old traditions connected to the mystery of the Sun: the first rays of the first day of Spring (actually the first day of the year) bring a special power of new, pure, and good. It is also the first breath after a long period, it is the first light after the darkness. It reminded me of the value of Beauty, but not the beauty composed of accumulated shapes, but derived from simple lines, only hinted contours: the beauty of spring, youth, naivety, and nature. I realized that beauty is only spring, that it is Woman, and that all women – as her daughters – should be able to imitate her magical expressions of beauty.
It reminded me of the smile upon awakening, of the child who opens their eyes in the morning… The value of a single smile in this world of winter, filled with pain and aggression…
It reminded me of the warmth of a benevolent and pleasant guest, of the possibility to help, of loyalty and love for someone in need, of the ability to be noble…
And I touched something of the mysteries of eternity: beauty, tenderness, purity, nobility – parts of eternity. Eternity is not endless, empty, sad, and cold, where nothing happens and only hours pass… Eternity is continuous revival.
Throughout the past centuries, spring was portrayed as the image of a delicate virgin symbolizing the awakening of nature as a whole, everything that is beautiful, good, and that sleeps deep within people. It was synonymous with joy and reunion, with happiness and light. It is an invitation to start everything anew, to forget old pains, to feel the life energy flowing through our bodies. Spring cautiously walks, revealing day by day the mystery of the world that has been sleeping all winter, following the direction of growth and certain evolution towards the maturity of summer. Because of all this, it is always greeted with joy and hope. I was not the only one who saw it… Every person carried a spark of the image of spring in their eyes.
Undoubtedly, today spring is looked at in a different way. Today, it is It takes effort to notice it. It performs its task like always, appearing on the same days, but how much more work does it have to do now?! How many sad places does it have to awaken?!
We are no longer just pressed by the cold and darkness of winter. Suffering and burdens that we must carry on our already tired shoulders are much heavier. We are also pressed by gloomy souls, hatred and misunderstanding, senselessness and delusion, anger and contempt… The arrival of spring almost doesn’t matter at all. How to draw attention to its presence in such a sad environment?
However, I managed to see it and I believe we could all open our feelings and souls to spring, even if just for a moment.
We must not allow anxieties to completely dominate us and turn our lives into continuous death. We must not abandon hope and the dream of a better world that we could build in everything that surrounds us. Possibilities cannot be exhausted as quickly as we think because the mercy of Nature is boundless and offers a thousand and one new path.
