Nature
With the arrival of Apollo from Hyperborea, who awakened a new cycle of life in nature, spring has come again. Young green leaves and fragrant flowers have appeared on bare branches. The freshness and beauty of youth, which blossoms and grows in strength, is expressed. When it reaches the peak of its youthful power, nature will begin to invest its energy selflessly in ripening fruits. Eventually, its green color will turn into reddish shades of fruitful maturity, and the full splendor of the mystery of life will be revealed before us.
First comes Apollo, the god of sunlight, who has no “gender” and represents the unity of life. He brings about the rebirth of nature, and when he takes on material form, Dionysus appears, representing an objectified and diverse life. Through countless completed forms of embodied life, Dionysus instills enthusiasm, the frenzy of dithyrambs.
This brief description of natural events, spoken in the language of ancient Greek philosophy of nature, tells us exactly what modern ecological science teaches today.
Therefore, Well, after the spring equinox, when the day becomes longer than the night, the sunlight in plants awakens a new annual vegetative period. In the process of photosynthesis, plants absorb this energy from the sun and store it in organic matter as food for themselves, animals, and us humans. In the chemical process of oxidation, this energy is released as needed and serves for all biological processes in living organisms. Therefore, sunlight is the original biological energy of living beings, which enables life on Earth in the chain of energy and matter exchange in nature.
Furthermore, ecological science tells us that the concept of life can no longer be scientifically observed only within the scope of various organisms, but the principles and laws that are common to the entire nature must be taken into account. According to ecological laws, life manifests itself in a complex network of existentially interconnected species. Each of them has its ecological niche that enables a specific way of existence and its purposeful role in Within the framework of its corresponding ecosystem and nature as a whole, all living beings within an ecosystem (biocoenosis) are interconnected through their roles, much like cells that make up the organs of an organism. Therefore, ecologically speaking, nature is a macrobios, a vast living and intelligently organized system of interconnected life.
Human beings are also part of nature, but today they do not fulfill their intended role as a part of it, instead behaving as if they are the exclusive masters of the entire Earth’s nature. They irresponsibly consume and destroy its resources, thereby destabilizing the balance in many parts of the biosphere and endangering their own ecological niche. Nature’s protective mechanisms already warn us of the immeasurable negative consequences of human actions. It is high time that we reconsider our role as the most intelligent beings on the planet.
World
The world in which we live is gradually becoming alienated from the nature to which it belongs, due to our civilization. This does not mean that civilization and technology, in and of themselves, are inherently bad. Culture has always been necessary for building one’s own ecological niche, people’s way of life, and it is culture. Unnatural and harmful abuse of civilizational achievements is as dangerous as the most useful tool can become a deadly weapon in the hands of a violent person.
Therefore, the intentions and goals of those who govern technological and civilizational resources are harmful. The prevailing system of values and its criteria, which lack humane characteristics, is unnatural. This current unhealthy state deviates from the natural dignity of humans because, as far as we can remember, it does not represent the norm of human behavior. It is simply not true that teachers were usually worse than their students, that a thief was more successful than an honest person, and that an ignorant person was taken as an example and ruled over the educated.
The image of the world suggested by the media is even worse than reality itself, giving the impression that only horrors and bizarre things are happening in the world. Is it really not But there is something more valuable of mention that the media can report, and that about eight billion people are living every day?
Destructive behavior of people is not a characteristic of their nature, but of the position they find themselves in the world. They are just defending themselves and following the examples of those who are considered successful today. We live in a world where almost everything is subordinated to money, which is becoming increasingly difficult for most people to access, even to meet basic needs. This encourages animal competition among people, instead of building an ecological niche – a cultural coexistence.
“The fundamental paradox of consumer society is that consumption is not directed towards the general well-being, social security, and human development of a creative being, but towards passive consumption as a complement to mass production and high profits.” Croatian Encyclopedia
Although there are significant individual and social differences among people, we cannot divide them into good and bad, but into those who do something good and those who do something bad. If we do not start Why would the most developed beings on Earth, by their nature, be bad? The question is whether they express their nature or something else. However, this does not depend on human nature itself, but on upbringing and education, on the way of life in today’s society.
Man
Human actions are driven by three motives.
The first is the action of least resistance, which means doing what others do, whether it is good or bad. This means that we are unable to refuse what others ask of us, or to stop going down a certain path that we know is not heading in the right direction. The cause of such action is weakness, or a lack of strength to independently decide what needs to be done.
The second is action for the purpose of gaining merit, honor, titles, personal affirmation, to be admired, to be respected, not out of humanitarian motives.
The third is action driven from within, motivated by goodwill and noble intentions. Only this action is truly humane, as it is not motivated by selfish desires. by external stimuli. Through such actions, we consciously and freely express our own criteria and sincere efforts. In the river of life, this action is what sets the boat apart from the log. The boat sails propelled by its own power, while the movements of the log are determined solely by external stimuli – river currents and collisions with other logs.
Humanity is not a weakness or a luxury of man, but rather his authentic state in which he can truly feel good. It is our natural scent, appearance, and way of expressing our identity. Many people today, especially young people, who want to live differently, are proof of this. They are tired of selfish competition in interpersonal relationships where, as a rule, everyone loses, especially the weaker ones. They want to live in a way that their actions are useful to others.
In the developed world, there is an increasing number of volunteers who help other people and nature as a whole. They strive to be of practical use because they know that by doing so, they They can feel more like human beings. They are aware that civilization’s structure has been deeply dehumanized and therefore seek action in which they can express their human dignity and find a sense of purpose in life.
These people are examples of solidarity, which is much needed in today’s world where institutions have failed and become self-serving. They are messengers of the need for a new humanism without which it will not be possible to overcome the deep crisis of our world. Their actions are voluntary, which means they use their goodwill in acting for the common good.
Historically speaking, today’s volunteers have a role similar to that of the ladies and knights of medieval times. They then provided a model of social relations that served as the foundation for humanism and the Renaissance, without which the transition from the Middle Ages would not have been possible.
Today, selfless people of goodwill are needed again to stimulate the renewal of communal life and criteria for evaluating human nature. ija Jončić
